Do you have uncontrolled hives?

A new study in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that a new medicine Ligelizumab may be better than antihistamines and Xolair in controlling chronic urticaria. In the post, it could stop here, but on the website, it could go on to say: Some outbreaks of hives have a clear trigger of some type of avoidable exposure such as shellfish or nuts or types of citrus, but other types of itchy hives are more of a persistent problem of unclear origin. For people suffering from this condition that can also be very dangerous when involving swelling around the mouth or airways, injections with ligelizumab may give them relief. This is a monthly injection that seems to significantly help many people with this condition. The safety profile of the medication is similar to another one used called omalizumab (or Xolair). There is an increase in upper respiratory tract infections in people who are on these medications. In the future, there will be more immune modulators that will be used to treat this condition. Ongoing trials using the eczema medication, Dupixant, are promising.
