Caffeine could reduce your risk of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. Coffee and black tea that has caffeine are thought to support a natural cell death, called apoptosis, of UV damaged keratinocytes that if left unchecked can progress to non-melanoma type skin cancers. A recent study was published out of China supporting this observation also in the Chinese population as well. So enjoy that cup of black tea or your morning wake-up Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks coffee!
